Wald's Showcase

Because it's not really a draft show unless Wald makes an appearance *grin.*

If it there was one thing Wald had gained over the past two years of his show career it was presence. It was a quiet sort of presence, but one that demanded a second look and more careful consideration than one might place on an obscure, short draft breed.

For *bovidaeloony's Flying Feathers Draft Show and Breed Showcase 2011.

Tackling a slight 3/4 view with moderate success (curse you foreshortening!). Hard and soft pastels on 12x12" gessoboard with a layer of a pastel ground (gives it a sandpaper-like texture that really grips the pastels). First time trying out this ground and I rather liked it, it's much like the pastelbord that Ampersand puts out and also the Colourfix paper. I will remember to try and sand out the brush lines next time, it created a bit of vertical texture that might be interesting to experiment with, but should be sanded down if it isn't desired.
