Tromp Loeil

I kindly ask you to ignore the fact that this picture is out of focus. It will be remedied shortly and is a perfect example of why you should not rely on the auto-focus feature on your camera, heh. I feel bad uploading this while I'm working on the tutorial on how to avoid such things, but the detail shot is a much better example of me taking pictures of my art: [link]

Tromp Loeil painting is the attempt to create a painting that looks REAL. Not realistic, not photo-realistic, but real. It was the final project in my Painting I class and I have to admit that I didn't like it until I added the shadows, at that point I absolutely fell in love with it and have been glowing internally at what I've accomplished ever since.

Each object (sans the shelf) holds quite a bit of meaning for me, and the assignment was to create a "portrait" of sorts.
