Description

You couldn't imagine how difficult it is to find a harness that fits a Jutland. The Noriker pair are about averaged build for a draft, but then you have the Jutland tanks. You ask for a nearly 30" collar and then have to send it back because it was too narrow, designed for some 18hh Shire and not a 16hh Jutland. Then there's the matter of the extra large Draft sized saddle and breeching with a horse-sized turn back strap and false martingale. Don't even get started on fitting the bridle with their short, broad heads!

While not the tallest pair, Wald at 15.3 and Fuchs a mere 15.2hh, they are definitely in the heavyweight class, being at least half again as broad as anything else their height!

Here's Wald and Fuchs, our Jutland stallion and mare participating in the team driving event for *LibertyBelle's Shooting Star Show.

Owner's Name: KunstFeuer
Horse's Name: BMa Wald and BMa Fuchs
Rider's Name: KunstFeuer
Stable Name: Blue Moon Acres
Event: Team Driving
Level: N/A

Fuchs turned out a bit more on the red side than I intended, but it's reasonable enough. I don't think I'll ever tire of the intricacies of harnesses and carriages! One of these days I need to do a piece on something larger than 8"X5" so I can do justice to the details!

Watercolors and ink in my rather horsey Moleskine watercolor notebook (there's one piece out of the 11 in it that is not a horse).
